Brown Hall Farm LLC was established in 2010 by William Brown.

William started riding at a young age from ponies to horses, ranging from hunters to jumpers, with his trainer and mentor Margaret “Peggy” Smith for 18 years before her retirement. After graduating high school, William pursued the equine industry by becoming the assistant trainer, under Karla Williams, who took the reins from Peggy. This started his love for training young riders, starting many in their very first lessons.

After 4 years as assistant trainer, William went to Virginia Intermont College, where he majored in Equine Studies and competed on the college’s IHSA team. William fast tracked his time at college, completing the four years in just three, with the readiness to open his own operation, back in Northern Virginia.

While at school, he was able to show throughout the Southeast, taking advantage of the many wonderful shows held in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia.

The guidance through the years from professionals, like, Sandra Ruiz, Peggy Jones, Bob Crandall, Danny Robertshaw, Ron Danta, Sue Glover and many more have allowed William to understand what it truly takes to produce a winning horse and rider combination.

Specializing in ponies, juniors, and amateur riders, William loves to help find the most suitable mount for his clients, which allows for much success in the show ring.

William’s philosophy towards teaching is to form the correct basics and understanding of fundamentals, allowing riders to progress successfully to their highest potential, safely, and confidently. Whether he’s standing at the short stirrup ring, or helping a junior hunter at Devon, he knows that his riders are prepared and ready to shine on any stage.

The combination of “old school” and “modern” combines to make an unstoppable force with Brown Hall Farm LLC.
